about Us

CATTLE ON A THOUSAND HILLS

A partnership between farmers, ministries, and god.

We partner with “feeding ministries” making prepared meals to serve those in need. Working in a multi county region throughout North Carolina, we serve an increasing population of communities serving 100,000’s meals annually. It is through a combination of God’s grace and stewardship of farmland that we grow in the service of others.

"for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills."

PSALM 50:10

OUR STORY

How We Started.

In 2016 Mill Grove United Methodist’s Lay Leader, Rick McManus, and the church’s pastor Bob Sturge, felt spiritually challenged by a fairly straightforward question. What might be unique to their church’s call to serve the Kingdom of God? The answer came quickly – raise cows!

Located on the rural edge of the Charlotte metro – raising cattle has long been a part of the local culture. Rick, an area farmer; along with Bob having grown up in dairy country, clearly identified with that tradition. With a “farm to table” backdrop what would set this emerging vision apart was the goal in delivering locally produced beef directly to area food ministries. My Father’s Cows was born!

Our Heavenly Father, who provides cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50: 10) invites to share that which is already His gift to us!

MISSION STATEMENT

Our Vision & Mission.

The hope inherent to My Father’s Cows originated from the scriptural invitation to partner with our Heavenly Father in the stewardship and subsequent abundance of creation. And that includes beef! We accomplish that by encouraging local farmers and ranchers to directly partner, with sponsoring churches, in sharing beef beef with area food ministries.

This originates through the donated or subsidized purchase of cows from the cattle producer with the support of MFC. The processed protein is then shared at the area tables of ministry and outreach.
